OUT OF THE ABYSS is a dark theatrical retelling of Revelation 9:1–11, centered on the terrifying vision that follows the sounding of the fifth trumpet.
A star falls from heaven and is given the key to the abyss.
The pit opens.
Smoke rises like the smoke of a great furnace, darkening the sun and the air. Then something begins to move inside it.
Revelation describes creatures emerging from the abyss like locusts, but their appearance becomes stranger with every detail: crowns resembling gold, faces like human faces, hair like women’s hair, teeth like lions, armor like iron, and tails armed with the sting of scorpions.
Their wings are described as sounding like chariots and many horses rushing into battle.
The vision grows darker still.
These creatures are not sent against the grass, trees, or vegetation. Instead, they are permitted to torment people who do not bear the seal described in the passage. They are not allowed to kill, but their torment lasts for five months.
Revelation then gives one of the most disturbing lines in the entire scene:
People will seek death…
but will not find it.
They will long to die…
but death will flee from them.
And then comes the final revelation.
These creatures have a king.
The angel of the abyss.
In Hebrew, his name is Abaddon.
In Greek, Apollyon.
The destroyer.
OUT OF THE ABYSS does not attempt to decode the vision or force it into a modern interpretation. It is a theatrical, source-based retelling of what Revelation actually places before the reader: the opened abyss, the rising smoke, the darkened sky, the strange creatures, the torment, and the mysterious king who rules over them.
And when the vision finally pauses, the warning remains:
The first woe has passed.
Two more are still to come.
